Goodnight Moon

When did bedtime become so complicated? Our nightly routine used to be so scheduled and quick. Now it seems something new is added each night. One story becomes two, then a song, then a kiss, we say our prayers asking God to bless everyone in the family (listing each by name), another kiss, "night light please", search every corner of the room for bear bear and duck duck, then another song...Aaaaah! Mommy's so tired! I still cherish this wonderful routine with my daughter every night but Megan, cut Mommy some slack!

Me, in a nutshell...

I am Carol. Mommy of two. Loving wife to one. Domestic Goddess. Sarcastic Optimist.

I am from a small town in Arkansas but now live a nomadic military life, currently in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. I work from home as a teacher, nurse, referee, psychologist, chauffeur, maid, cook, and sometimes judge and jury. Yes, I am a stay-at- home mom of two beautiful, very high energy, little munchkins.

My daughter, Megan, a.k.a. Bucket, is full of personality and life. An independent little girl who is able to push my buttons faster than anyone on the planet. She has her Daddy’s good looks and her Mommy’s temperament (poor thing). She is a true wild child who marches to the beat of a different drum.

My son, Jackson, is 100% boy. Running, jumping, and climbing with the intensity of a monkey on Red Bull. His almost white, blonde mohawk and flirtatious smile make him quite the ladies’ man. His little laugh is infectious. He is spoiled and thriving as a second child, though he seems to have gotten shafted in the photography and documented milestones department.

I have been happily married to a military man for more almost 12 years now. My husband, Nick, makes me laugh on a daily basis. His sarcasm rivals, if not surpasses, mine and although I find it an endearing quality in myself, his tone occasionally makes me want to rip his lips off. He is an amazing father to his adoring children. Though his housekeeping skills are seldom up to par, he earns his keep as the resident protector, exterminator, toy finder/fixer, and living room floor wrestler.

I am nowhere near perfect. I fail as a wife, mother and Christian every day. I’m convinced that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. I talk to myself, a lot. I never have it all together, though I try desperately to appear that way. I’m still working on losing my “baby weight” even though my youngest is now almost 4 years old.

I’m not a “professional blogger”, nor do I have any aspiration to be. This blog is just for me to jot down any thoughts that might be lingering in my almost depleted brain cells. It keeps me from sitting in the garage with the engine on. So, enjoy my writing and if you don’t, please let me know. Because as a mother, I am equipped with the ability to please others before myself without pay or reward.
